Default HGTV

Haha most of HGTV is Canadian which is pretty weird-- but I'm getting highly acquainted with the Toronto housing market.

I am in love with Scott Gillivray from Income Property.

He's got an extremely dorky hair cut, but he's got KNOW HOW. He's also the most even-tempered home improvement show host I've ever seen. The show rules though... it's one of the smartest design shows out there.

The one drawback to watching massive quantities of HGTV now that I have a house lined up for myself is having to see dozens of men on Househunters talk about the "man cave". Fuuuuuuck them. I have nearly the same reaction when people enter a ridiculous ugly, boring kitchen and are like "oh granite countertops, that is KEY". Or the women that open up a good sized closet and go "omg that is not NEARLY enough space for me." Househunters gets on my nerves I guess. Plus the fact that they look at 3 count them THREE houses and then have to make a decision. I think i saw more than 20 houses before settling on mine.

Spice Up My Kitchen is pretty terrible as well as they take a preexisting kitchen (sometimes really charming old kitchens) and rip it out and put in some of the most uninspired, slightly outdated, ugly kitchens. It's a design show, isn't it supposed to be better than that?

Curb Appeal: The Block is new and is awesome so far. Not that my house needs much work in the curb appeal department, but it's made me think about my neighbor's houses some. Maybe they'll find my window boxes contagious?

Holmes on Homes is cool, but I have a hard time get into a lot of the major contractor work. the crappy shit that people have endured kind of sucks, but some of them attempted renovations they couldn't afford anyway. The one on today is about a Toronto woman whose rental property was used by her tenants as a marijuana grow facility. Maybe MC got some of the weed from there! It's a huge job, and Mike Holmes keeps using weed lingo that makes me think he probably smokes. Hahaha.

Probably cause it's a Canadian specialty channel.

Which would explain the gay haircut.

Good for gay men everywhere though!

Still, I love him.

I don't watch HGTV because I get peasant-vision basic cable, but even when I didn't, I still didn't watch it. I don't own a house, I have no desire or money to renovate my living space, and I don't want to feel guilty about not wanting to do those things.

Gimme a few years till I'm able to buy a house somewhere, then I'll probably be singing a different tune.
